Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, 17, and Ugandan activist Vanessa Nakate, 23, will talk about “Climate Justice Globally, Now and for the Future,” as the world unites to discuss climate justice and peace throughout the world.
The event is free to attend online. Click here to register, and be sure to leave a birthday message for Tutu, who turns 89 on 7 October!
Both Thunberg and Nakate have been instrumental in leading the active youth climate justice movement and inspiring millions of their peers to also take action against the climate emergency.
Their activism must make Tutu proud. The 1984 Nobel Peace Prize recipient is celebrated throughout the world for his work against apartheid and for human rights in South Africa.
For the Anglican Church of South Africa, he served as the Bishop of Johannesburg from 1985 to 1986 and asArchbishop of Cape Town from 1986 to 1996. Tutu was the first Black African to hold either position.
